Further measures for protection against air raids were taken today.

A meeting of the Air Raid precautions Committee, with District Commissioner Edward Keith-Roach presiding, recommended an additional municipal grant of L4,600 to provide steel helmets, trailer pumps and other apparatus. The committee also decided to convert the ground floors of Jerusalem’s citadel towers into shelters.

The meeting followed Vichy reports that the French authorities had threatened “reprisal” attacks on British air and naval bases in Palestine if Royal Air Force bombings on Syrian airdromes continued.
