The Executive of the Vaad Leumi, the Jewish National Council, today sent a first installment of £1,000 to relieve the suffering of the Bagdad Jews, resulting from the pogroms that broke out there during the abortive Nazi-inspired coup by Rashid Ali Galiani. An additional £2,000 is to be sent within the next month.

Both the Iraquian consul general and the American consul general, Pinkerton, paid courtesy visits today to Chief Rabbis Isaac Herzog and Ben-Zion Uziel.
