The mass-expulsion of 10,000 Jews from Bratislava into so-called “Jewish centers” in remote small Slovakian townships where they will be isolated in ghettos started here today with the first group of 1,500 Jews being “evacuated” from the city in special trains.
Slovak authorities estimate that by the end of the year all 10,000 Jews scheduled for deportation-comprising 70 percent of the entire Jewish population of Bratis lava – will have left the city. The remainder will be moved into a ghetto.
Parallel with the deportation of Jews from Bratislava, the authorities will “evacuate” Jews from other Slovak cities. All Jews will be transported to 14 so-call “Jewish centers” from which they will not be permitted to move. These “centers” will be administered in the same manner as the Jewish ghettos in Nazi-held Poland.
