German governors throughout Poland have issued orders to the police and military executioners to differentiate between Poles and Jews when executing those condemned by the special tribunals, it is reported today by Dziennik Polski, official organ of the Polish government-in-exile.
The orders provide that Poles must be shot or beheaded, while “the most degrading form of execution, hanging,” must be reserved for Jews. This has been the common practice in Nazi-occupied Poland, but the new order now makes it mandatory.
