Jews in Algeria Ordered to Leave Economic Positions This Month

All Jews in Algeria must leave any positions they hold in the colony’s economy by May 29, it is decreed in the Algerian Journal Official, which reached here today. Jewish holders of professional identity cards must surrender them to the police at the same time.

Confiscation of assets of Jews, however, will require the consent of the Governor General and will not be carried out automatically, the order provides.
