Emphasising that “the threat to Palestine is direct and urgent,” the Zionist Review, official Zionist organ, today carries an article demanding the immediate formation of a Jewish army in Palestine for the purpose of fighting the Nazis “before the eleventh hour is reached.”

Simultaneously, the world executive committee of the WIZO, the International Women’s Zionist Organization, held an emergency session here today demanding the immediate formation of a Jewish fighting force in Palestine under British command “in view of the situation in Egypt.” The session also adopted a resolution requesting that 50,000 Jews in Palestine be “trained and armed as a Home Guard.”
