An indication that large numbers of Salonika Jews have been deported is contained in the Donau Zeitung, Nazi organ for the Balkan countries, which reached here today.
The Nazi paper reports that as a result of the registration of Salonika Jews between eighteen and forty-five for forced labor, only 7,000 were found available in that age category. This is an extremely small number in view of the fact that there were about 60,000 Jews living in Salonika prior to the Nazi invasion of Greece, and would indicate that thousands of Jews have already been expelled.
