Establishment in Palestine of a settlement named after Camille Huysmans, Belgian Socialist leader and former president of the Belgian Chamber of Deputies, which will be colonized by demobilized Jewish veterans of the Dutch and Belgian Armies, was announced last night at a reception to Huysmans here, sponsored by the Jewish National Fund and HAATID, the Belgian Zionist Association.
Before and during the meeting funds totalling over $10,000 were pledged towards the goal of $40,000 needed to established the colony. Among the speakers were Herbert Morrison, Minister of Home Security; Arthur Greenwood, prominent Labor Party statesman; and Belgian and Zionist leaders. Prof. Samson Wright, who presided, announces that the Huysmans settlement would be the first of a chain of similar colonies to accommodate demobilized Jewish veterans of the various Allied forces.
