Jews in England Launch Campaign for Medical Aid to Russia

The United Jewish Committee to Answer the Appeal of Soviet Jewry has been reconstituted under the name of “The Jewish Fund for Soviet Russia,” and is registered as such under the War Charities Act, 1940 as a part of Mrs. Churchill’s Red Cross Aid to Russia fund, it was announced here today.

The Jewish Fund for Soviet Russia is authorized by Mrs. Churchill’s Fund to appeal to the Jews of Great Britain for a special Jewish contribution to the Fund, for the purpose of sending medical units to Russia, which will be clearly marked as the special contribution of the Jews of Britain. The patrons of the Jewish Fund for Soviet Russia include the Chief Rabbi, Dr. J.H. Hertz; Mrs. I.M. Sieff; Mrs. Israel Zangwill; Jacob Epstein; I. Greenberg, editor of the “Jewish Chronicle;” Professor Norman Bentwich; Professor Cecil Roth; Professor I Zeilsohan and others. The committee has decided to launch an appeal for medical aid for Russia.
