The World Jewish Congress today announced that its headquarters here has received letters from Jewish refugees in Russia expressing gratitude for food and clothing parcels sent to them by relatives and friends in the United States.
“These letters,” the announcement said, “are either sent directly to the United States by the grateful recipients of the parcels, or to the Teheran office of the Jewish Agency for Palestine which cooperates with the New York bureau of the World Jewish Congress in this parcel-sending service.”
“The World Jewish Congress has been of assistance to the Agudath Israel, Union of Latvian Jews, Representation of Polish Jews. Association of Refugees from Poland, Union of Grand Rabbis, and a number of other organizations, in the transmission of food and clothing parcels to their respective memberships or compatriots in Russia,” the announcement added. “Aside from these various organizations in North America, the World Jewish Congress affiliates in 18 different Latin American countries have been availing themselves of this service instituted by the Congress, which has compiled a list of approximately 10,000 names of Jewish refugees.”
