A sixty-page memorandum asking for reversal of the verdict issued by the military court here in the trial of Abraham Rachlin and Leib Sirkin charged with illegal possession of arms, was dispatched to the General Officer in Command of British troops by Dr. Philip Joseph, the attorney for the defense.

The memorandum analyzes the arms trial” and its procedure and asserts that there was no ground for the verdict of guilty under which Rachlin was sentenced to seven years and Sirkin to ten years imprisonment.

The municipalities of Tel Aviv and Haifa as well as the executive committee of the Union of Town Councils adopted resolutions protesting against the “arms trial,” describing it as an attempt to besmirch the Jewish name in the war effort.”
