The strict black-out which has been observed in Jerusalem since the outbreak of the war has been lifted and will be replaced by a dim-out system similar to the one which was in force in New York.
The change, which indicates a marked improvement in the war situation in the Mediterranean, coincided with the visit to Jerusalem of the members of the British and American general staffs who participated in the Roosevelt-Churchill-Stalin conference at Teheran. The generals visited the Wailing Wall which was their first stop on a sightseeing tour of the city.
The order under which the black-out is replaced by a dim-out warns that the air raid alarm system by sirens remains, and that in the event of danger the complete black-out will be restored at a moments notice.
