Jewish prisoners at Camp Djenian in North Africa were confined in a ghetto together with Moslems by the Vichyite administration of the camp, Dr. Bernard Lecache, former president of the League of Human Rights in France, testified today at the trial of the camp administrators.

Lecache, who is Jewish, said that the directors and the guards taunted him saying; “Hitler, our chief, will win the war and you Jews will be exterminated.” He charged that although he was forced to work for eight hours at a stretch carrying rocks weighing fifty to sixty pounds, he was given no food and water while working. Many Jews and other prisoners died as a result of overwork, lack of food and beatings by the guards, Lecache said.
