Jewish, Red Armymen stationed in Bulgaria were making preparations today to attend Yom Kippur services in the Sofia synagogues and to pray for their fallen relatives and other Jews murdered by the Germans in the Ukraine and Belorussia during the occupation.
Arrangements for the participation of Russian Jewish soldiers in local Yom Kippur services were made by the Jewish Consistory here as a result of the fact that during the Rosh Hashanah services the synagogues were crowded with Russian soldiers and officers. The Bulgarian Jews feel warmly towards the Russians since the entrance of the Red Army into Bulgaria led to the complete liberation of the Jewish population.
Meanwhile, Zionist activity is being resumed among the Jews here. Various revived Zionist parties have announced the convocation of conferences of their membership for next week.
