Incensed at Prime Minister Churchill’s announcement yesterday that the Jewish brigade will participate in the occupation of Germany, and at Gen, Eisenhower’s proclamation to the German people in which he emphasized that all “cruel, oppressive and discriminatory laws” introduced by the Nazis in the Reich will be abolished by the Allied Military Government, the Berlin radio today broadcast a wild anti-Jewish tirade calculated to frighten the Germans with the specter of “Jewish revenge.”
“The news that Germany will be occupied by Jewish troops will only strengthen the German will to resist to the utmost,” the Nazi broadcast said. “We realized long ago that an Allied victory would also be a victory for the Jews.”
The Berlin radio today announced the death of the notorious anti-Semite Joseph Buerokel, who, as Gauleiter of Austria immediately after the German occupation of Vienna, introduced a ruthless anti-Jewish regime and forced Jews to clean the streets of the Austrian capital with their hands. He died of inflammation of the lungs.
