Terrorists Raid Palestine Government Warehouse; Escape with Valuable Goods

Fifty terrorists made a daring daylight raid on the warehouse of the Palestine Government’s Light Industry Department here, yesterday and seized a considerable quantity of valuable goods, mainly textiles. The raiders, uno announced that they were members of the outlawed Irgun Zvai Leund, escaped in waiting trucks.

According to the official police account of the robbery, the men, ranging in age from 14 to 35, over powered the watchman and placed him in the basement of the building together with other employees and all persons who entered the premises while the raid was going on. The employees were warned that they would be shot if they made an outcry.

About eight o’clock yesterday evening, several hours after the robbery, eight truck drivers reported to the Ramath Gan police station that they had been hired early on the day to haul fruit from the colony of Tel Litwinsky, but an route they were ordered off their trucks and held in a grove near the settlement. They were not released until six o’clock.
