Prof. Leon Roth, Rector of the Hebrew University, arrived here today from Jerusalem for the purpose of making a study at close range of some of the Leading American universities, with special reference to academic administration and methods of instruction.

Prof. Leon Roth, will, in addition, try during his visit to establish a closer cultural contact between America and the Hebrew University. Prof. Roth holds that it is an error to believe that the Hebrew University either as an institution of higher learning or as a centre of Jewish spiritual life is able to maintain itself in isolation. He says “it should aim at penetrating and being penetrated by the educated Jewish world, and in this way it could become what it should become, an asset to its supporters and thus make a direct contribution to the maintenance of world Jewry. The Societies of Friends of the Hebrew University throughout the world should constitute living channels through which the spiritual life stream could course–not only from Jerusalem outward, but also to Jerusalem inward.”
