The Hungarian Provisional Government, in a broadcast on the Kossuth radio station today, estimated that “at least 450,000 Hungarian Jews were killed by the Germans in gas chambers and in death camps”.
“The cruel methods used in the murdering of Hungarian Jews, including aged, women and children, surpass the imagination of human beings,” the broadcast said. “Full details of the atrocities against Hungarian Jewry are now being revealed by survivors in Budapest. The new democratic Hungary demands that none of these crimes remain unavenged.”
