Polish Jewish Federation Established in Buenos Aires to Send Aid to Polish Jewry

A Council of Polish Jewish Societies has been established here to aid Polish Jewry, it was announced today. First objective of the new organization is to raise $10,000 which will be used to purchase food, clothing and medicine to be sent to Poland through the Joint Distribution committee.

The Central committee for Resoue, which is affiliated with the world Jewish Congress, announced at press conference today that the committee has raised more than 540,000 pesos (about $135,000) for emergency relief since its formation.

A bequest of 200,000 pesos (about $50,000) has been left to the Hebrew University by the late Julie Poliacoff of Buenos Aires. This bequest, it is understood, is the first to have been received by the University from Latin America.
