“The principle and policy of fair employment practice should be established permanently as part of our national law,” President Pruman said tonight in a message sent to a “Save the FEPC Rally,” held in the Town Hall here.

The 2,000 persons who attended the meeting adopted a resolution asking the Senate Appropriations Committee to reinsert the appropriation for the present war-time FEPC in the War Agency Appropriations Bill and urged Congress to pass the bill calling for a permanent FEPC.

Speakers who addressed the rally included Rabbi J. X. Cohen, U.S. Senator Dennis Chavez, Rep. Charles LaFollette, Bishop G. Bromley Oxnam, president of the Federal Council of the Churches of Christ in America and other notables. Messages supporting the fight for the FEPC were received from Philip Murray, president of the CIO, William Green, president of the A.F.L., Secretary of Commerce Henry Wallace, Senator Robert F. Wagner, Dr. Stephen S. Wise and others.
