British soldiers have seized a cache of explosives at a Jewish settlement a few miles from Tel Aviv, it was announced here today.

High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham, in a statement last night, said he was satisfied that British troops acted with both restraint and discipline during the disturbances in the Sharoncoastal area of Palestine in the early part of the week.

General Cunningham said that the Government had every right to conduct a search among Palestinian settlements.

It was disclosed today that the commutation yesterday by Palestine commander Gen. John Darcy of the sentences imposed upon 20 Jewish youths by a military court in Haifa provide that two boys of 15 and 16 who were sentenced to four and three years, respectively, will be released immediately, while sentences of three to seven years on 17 others have been reduced to between one and two years. Only one sentence–of seven years–was confirmed.
