The 1,000 Jews in the Reggio Emilia camp, where two Jews were killed last week in clashes with fascist Ukrainians, are being transferred to exclusively Jewish camps in southern Italy, it was disclosed today by Antonio Sorieri, deputy relief chief of UNRRA.
The Jews were taken to the Reggio Emilia camp, the UNRRA official explained, because UNRRA was informed that they were wandering the streets of Milan, homeless and destitute. He emphasized that 2,000 to 3,000 Jews enter Italy monthly in the hope that through it runs the road to Palestine.
