The American Jewish Conference today announced the appointment of a 21-man committee to implement the decision of its third session calling for the establishment of a permanent representative organization of American Jewry.
The planning committee is to draft a plan defining (a) the general purposes of the organization, (b) its structure, (c) the manner in which national and community bodies shall be represented, (d) the relationship of the new organization both to the constituent national organizations and the Jewish community organizations, and (e) the powers and scope of the permanent organization. The findings of the committee, together with a draft constitution for the new organization will be transmitted to the Interim Committee not later then November 1.
