A delegation representing leading Jewish organizations in Argentina today greeted Rabbi Samuel Wohl of Cincinnati upon his arrival at the airfield here. The reception committee was composed of leaders of Zionist and non-Zionist groups. Rabbi Wohl arrived here to study the situation of the Jews in Argentina.
The DAIA, central Jewish representative body, today sent a cable to President Truman expressing the indignation of Argentine Jewry at Foreign Minister Bevin’s statement on Palestine and urging the President to insist that Britain admit 100,000 Jews to Palestine immediately.
The first Congress of Argentine Jewish Youth, which includes all Jewish youth groups in the country, voted support of the Zionist aim of building a Jewish state in Palestine and hailed the Haganah in resolutions adopted at its closing session. It appealed to the Argentine people to support Jewish demands in Palestine.
The inauguration of a Jewish school commemorating the late Jewish writer Sholem Aleichem took place here today. The three-story building, which will be the largest Jewish school in Latin America, will accommodate 1,500 students and will have a staff of 37 teachers.
