Hungarian agents were accused today of having instigated the recent anti-Jewish outbreaks in Slovakia, according to the Prague radio. Citing an investigation conducted by the Ministry of the Interior, the broadcast said the Hungarian agents obtained the support of Hlinka Guardists in provoking the riots and used hand grenades of Hungarian make.
The public prosecutor in the city of Kosice, which was occupied by Hungary, has instituted criminal proceedings against eight Jews on charges that they sympathized with or aided the Hungarians. Among the defendants are Vidor Srulovite, who fought as a partisan under the Russians and received several decorations. Jewish circles charge that the prosecutions are discriminatory.
