President Truman today conferred with Max Lowenthal, an adviser on Jewish property matters to Lt. Gen. Lucias D. Clay, deputy military governor of U.S. zone in Germany.
Upon leaving the White House, Lowenthal said that the President was “very sympathetic” to the problems of the persecuted Jews in Europe. Lowenthal is here to confer with War and State Department officials.
Earlier today, the President Truman refused to comment when asked at his press conference whether there has been any progress in securing the admission of 100,000 Jews to Palestine. He said that he had nothing to say at this time.
