President Truman’s request to Congress for relaxation of the existing immigration regulations to admit more displaced persons from Europe to the United States will not be acted upon promptly, the London Times predicted today.

“The recommendations made by President Truman to the Congress is most reasonable and desirable in itself, but runs counter to strong currents of opinion of those responsible for the legislation now on statute books,” the article points out.
