S.S. General Oswald Pohl, who headed the Nazi ##oncentration camps system and was a deputy to Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler, went ##n trial here today, together with 17 other SS leaders, on charges of attempting to ##exterminate entire races.”U.S. Prosecutor James McHaney told the American military court that under ##ohl’s direction a special fund was established at the Reichscenk into which gold and other valuables stripped from Jews murdered in concentration camps were placed. ##e estimated that the fund reached over $1,000,000 before the German capitulation.
The prosecutor said that Pohl had boasted that he had increased the number of ##oncentration camps to 20 and forced labor camps to 165. McHaney charged that Pohl ##ad personally witnessed barbarous experiments at Dachau in which Poles, Jews and ##ussians were used.
