Highly-placed officers who were in charge of the security forces in Kielce last July 4 when 41 Jews were killed in a pogrom have been tried for neglect of duty, Gen. Wiktor Grosz, Foreign Ministry spokesman revealed today.
Major J. Sobczynski, head of the security forces, was acquitted, but two of his assistants were given prison terms. However, Gen. Grosz stated, both of them were freed later under the general amnesty declared by the government. He also said that ? of the trial was not published in order to avoid further repercussions in Poland.
