Central Jewish bodies in Bohemia-Moravia and Slovakia have submitted a joint protest to the government against a number of government policies detrimental to Jewish economic interests. They also protested against the ## increase of anti-Semitism in Slovakia.

The memorandum, submitted by the Council of Jewish Communities of Bohemia and Moravia and the Association of Jewish Communities of Slovakia, also scores the obstacles placed in the path of the restitution of Jewish properties by various official bodies, asserting that it is no longer the work of minor officials alone which hinders Jewish economic recovery. Although some of the criticism of governmental action is directed at the national administration, the major target is the government of semi-autonomous Slovakia.

Among the measures singled out as detrimental to the Jews is the incorporation of heirless property in a general fund to reimburse persons whose currency holdings were blocked shortly after the liberation, rather than turning over such property to a Jewish rehabilitation fund. The memorandum also protests an emigration tax, which has been invoked against refugees who fled the country during the Nazi occupation.
