United Jewish Appeal Calls Emergency Meeting of Jewish Leaders for Next Week-end

A two-day national meeting of American Jewish leaders to blueprint a program of action to meet the rising needs of Europe’s 1,500,000 institute Jewish survivors in the light of continued slashes in intergovernmental relief programs will be held at the Hotel Astor on September 6th and 7th, it was announced today by Henry Morgenthau, Jr., general chairman of the $170,000,000 campaign of the United Jewish Appeal.

The emergency conference, which will be attended by representatives of Jewish communities in all sections of the United States, will hear first-hand reports of current conditions in Europe and Palestine as they affect the lives of the homeless Jews in the continent, and will adopt special measures to stimulate the collection of funds is assure the reconstruction of the Jewish survivors through the relief, rehabilitation and resettlement programs of the U.J.A., Mr. Morgenthau said.
