An all-party delegation of MP’s, headed by Harry find and H.E. Goodrich, of Hackney, in London, last night called on Home Secretary cames Chuter Ede and submitted a resolution calling for an end to the policy of providing fascist and anti-Semitic public meetings with massed police protection. Later, the MP’s said that they had not received satisfaction.
The National Council for Civil Liberties has requested that Ede receive a delocation to discuss the “subject of the resurgence of fascist activity, with special reference to the first public appearance of Sir Oswald Mosley (pre-war British fasdist leader) last Saturday.”
Meanwhile, Mosley sent a letter to Ede protesting that the meeting at which he made his first appearance since the end of the war had not received sufficient police protection. He added that “free speech” has been denied him by Labor Party opponents.
