Palestine’s need for highly-skilled technical workers from the United States, England and other countries was stressed today by Eliezer Kaplan, treasurer of the Jewish Agency, in an address before the annual meeting of the Professional and Technical Workers of Aliyah (PATWA.)
Expressing the hope that mass immigration of Jews to Palestine will begin very soon, Kaplan said that “the strength of Palestine lies in our ability to develop a modern economy. We must bring skilled workers from other countries to help us in Palestine. In America, proposals to send the necessary technicians to Palestine from all sections of American Jewry are being seriously considered.”
Meanwhile, Izzedeen Shawa Boy, head of a Palestine Arab political mission here, told a press conference that more than 2,000 applications from Britons seeking to join the “Arab armies” in Palestine had been received by his group. He said nothing will stop these applicants from proceeding to the Middle East once they have received permission from the country of destination.
