Twenty Arabs were killed and many others wounded at night when a strong Haganah patrol penetrated the Arab village of Birabas, north Tel Aviv, and “blew up four building. The Jews lost one man killed and five Funded.
Birabas is the base from which daily attacks have been launched nearby on Jewish settlement of Magdiel for more than a week. Earlier in the week, a Stern mp detachment invaded the village and blasted three houses.
The British Army today reported that a Jewish pilot flying a plane east of Aviv was fired on, but landed safely although one bullet had penetrated the crocket of his light plane. High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham today called on all the inhabitants Palestine to cooperate with the advance party of the United Nations Palestine Commission. Pointing out that the members of the party have come to this country to study economic and other problems, Cunningham urged that they be granted cooperation, respect and immunity as befits the representatives of the highest international authority. Palestine Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog today appealed to the U.N.
