Turkish Jews Ask Govt. to Mediate Palestine Conflict; Minister Favors Arab Solution

A proposal that Turkey become the mediator between the Arabs and the Jews in the Palestine conflict was made here in the Jewish publication. “La Boz de Turkiye” and supported by the Turkish newspaper “Istanbul.” It was emphasized that it would be advantageous to Turkey if peace were restored in Palestine, which is Turkey’s third largest customer.

At a press conference, Turkish Foreign Minister Necmettin Sadak said that the Palestine problem is provoking ad much anxiety in Turkey as in other countries of the Middle Fast. Emphasizing that Turkey voted against partition at the U.N. general Assembly, he added: “The matter becomes more and more complicated.Naturally, we would wish that the issue be settled in accordance with the desire of the Arabs.”
