Acting in accordance with a resolution adopted by the U.N. Security Council in the early hours of Saturday morning urging the Jews and Arabs in Palestine to work out a truce and setting up Britain as the supervisor of the armistice, High Commissioner Sir Alan G. Cunningham today issued a new truce call.

He appealed to “all groups and individuals desirous of peace to use their influence to the utmost to secure acceptance of the resolution’s provisions.” Previously, the High Commissioner made one or two appeals for peace on his own authority, but made no attempt to support them “by concrete action.
