Eight hundred delegates, representing 400 lodges of the Independent Order of Brith Abraham assembled here at the group’s annual convention, which opened today–and will continue through Tuesday.
Joseph R. Apfel, Grand Master, called upon the United Nations to “accept the state of Israel into the family of nations.” He also urged the U.N. to “spearhead an international loan of $500,000,000 to Israel for reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of thousands of DP’s who are still confined in camps and want to go to Palestine to start life anew.”
