The question of Britain’s extending recognition to Israel “stands where it was,” a Foreign Office spokesman said today. He revealed that Israel representative Dr. Nahum Goldmann has met with British officials “informally,” but no major problems were discussed.

The government official refused to state in what capacity Dr. Goldmann was received, reiterating that the talks were purely informal and adding that Britain does not recognize any government in Palestine.
