About 2,400 displaced Jews residing in the Zeilsheim camp here want on a hunger strike today in protest against an order issued by the American military authorities that they move to twelve camps in Bavaria by Nov. 15. Their plea for a prolongation of stay until March 1 was rejected by Gen. Lucius Clay, commander of the U.S. military forces.
Major Abraham Hyman, deputy adviser on Jewish affairs to Gen. Clay, issued a statement appealing to the displaced Jews in Zeilsheim not to oppose the order of the army. “There is enough room in the camps in Bavaria from which 12,000 DP’s have left for Israel,” he stated.
