34th Annual Convention of Hadassah Opens Today; $6,000,000 Budget to He Presented

The 34th annual convention of Hadassah, which opens here tomorrow and which will continue through Tuesday, will be asked to approve a budget of $5,935,000–the largest in the organization’s history–for expanded medical and social welfare services in Israel during the coming year. Five thousand delegates representing more than 250,000 Hadassah members in 47 states of the Union are expected to attend the convention.

First-hand reports of the Hadassah program in Israel will he presented by Dr. Eli Davis, deputy medical director of the Hadassah medical organization in Palestine, and by other Hadassah officials from Israel. The convention will also be addressed by Eliahu Epstein, Israeli envoy to the United Stated Dr. Nahum Goldmann, member of the World Zionist executives Prof. Selig Brodetsky, member of the London branch of the executive; Dr. Werner Senator, administrator of the Hebrew University; Dr. Alexander Dushkin, executive vice-president of the Jewish Education Committee of N.Y. Dr. Ira Eisenstein, leader of the Society for the Advancement of Judaism and Prof. Eliezer Rieger, of the Hebrew University.
