Israel Asks U.S. Commerce Department for Information to Aid Development of Country

The Israeli Government has asked the U.S. Department of Commerce to help it obtain American industrial and commercial publications to aid it in developing the Jewish state, it was reported here today. The request was transmitted by the U.S. mission in Tel Aviv.

Eliahu Epstein, Israeli representative to the United States, took his place or the first time yesterday with the diplomatic corps attending the opening session of Congress which met to hear President Truman’s State of the Union message. Epstein as greeted by members of the diplomatic corps and by a number of Congressmen and Senators. This marked the first time that Epstein has taken part in an official function of the United States Government, it was pointed out.
