A government delegation headed by Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan will leave soon for the United States to sign the formal papers for the $100,000,000 loan extended to Israel by the Export-Import Bank this week, it was learned here today.
Appreciation on behalf of the Israeli Government to the Export-Import Bank for granting the loan was voiced here today by Kaplan addressing a session of the Israeli’s friends Council. He also thanked “all of Israel’s friends in the United States” for their efforts to have the loan granted.
He announced that the funds made available by the Bank would be used to develop and enlarge the country’s absorptive capacity and that the $100,000,000 is only a part of the vast funds needed to enable the absorption of a record immigration and the creation of jobs for the immigrants. These funds, he said, would be used for urban and rural development and not for political or organizational purposes.
