The special Knesseth sub-committee of twenty deputies which was elected last week to study the terms of the $100,000,000 American loan to Israel today approved acceptance of the loan.

During its consideration of the measure, the group heard Finance Minister Eliezer Kaplan who made the final arrangements in Washington for the loan. After a lengthy debate, it was passed by a substantial majority and must now pass the full Constituent Assembly, whose next meeting opens late this week.

At a press conference here Mordecai Shattner, chairman of the government committee to aid soldiers’ and veterans’ families, revealed that since the beginning of the war over $36,000,000 has been spent for family benefits. The amount allotted for this program in the budget is approaching $2,000,000 annually, declared Shattner, adding that the standard of care for soldiers’ dependents is not falling below the level of European countries.
