All Hebrew Schools in Poland to Close at End of Year; Evening Courses to Replace Them

All Hebrew schools will be closed down in Poland at the end of this school year, it was indicated here following a meeting of directors of Hebrew schools in this country called to consider measures to meet the new actuation.

The schools’ closing will result from a decision by the Jewish Central Committee to unify all Jewish elementary and high schools in Poland. The Hebrew school officials decided to establish special evening courses in Hebrew language, Hebrew ###erature and general information about Israel to replace the schools. The evening ##ses will be offered in the same buildings now housing the Hebrew schools. The evening courses will he offered in the same buildings now housing the Hebrew schools.Meanwhile, all elementary, high school and college-level classes were ordered by the Ministry of Education to conduct special lectures during the April 22-24 period commemorating the historic uprising in the Warsaw Ghetto in 1943. The sixth anniversary of the ghetto revolt actually falls on April 19, but schools will be closed then because of the Easter holidays.
