Israeli Mission in London Tenders Reception Marking Anniversary of Jewish State

Several hundred guests today attended a reception tendered by the Israeli mission in commemoration of the first anniversary of the establishhment of the new state. Mordecai Eliash, Israeli diplomatic representative to Britain, proposed a toast to President Chain Weizmann, and called for the help of all Jews “for the year-old baby.” Representatives of the British Foreign and Colonial Offices of various foreign embassies and legations were present.

One hundred Labor Members of Parliament today cabled Premier David Ben Gurion congratulations on the first anniversary of the independence of Israel and on the Israeli Labor Party’s success in the recent elections. “We welcome the promise of revival of friendly relations between Israel and Britain and wish success to the Israeli trade delegation now in London,” the message stated, “May the bitter memories of the past rapidly disappear and may your efforts and your example bring prosperity and social justice to your own people and the entire Middle East.
