Australian Prime Minister Cites Example of Israel in Plea for Liberal Immigration Policy

Australian Prime Minister John B. Chifley today cited Israeli successes in converting desert areas of Palestine Into crop-producing lands as an example for Australian development of its own arid territory. Chifley made the comparison in a statement in support of a policy of liberalized immigration at a conference of state ministers of immigration.
