The Joint Distribution Committee’s director in shanghai, Adolph C. Glassgold, has chartered a boat to evacuate a group of 250 Jews from Communist-held Tientsin in North China to Hone Kong, from where they will proceed to Israel by air, it was announced here today by Moses A. Leavitt, J.D.C. executive vice-chairman. All of the Tientsin Jews hold Israeli visas.
The Tientsin group includes displaced persons from Europe and permanent residents. Communist authorities in the city have granted permission to the 250 Jews to leave the city, the J.D.C. said. The International Refugee Organization is sharing in the cost of moving the Jews to Hone Kong.
