The United Jewish Campaign for 1949 was officially proclaimed here this week. Funds will be raised for the Keren Hayesod, Jewish National Fund, Joint Distribution Committee, HIAS, World Jewish Congress, ORT, OSE and other groups, including 13 local organizations.
Col. David Shaltiel, Inspector-General of the Israeli Army, who is now visiting Brazil, was received by the Brazilian War Minister. He was also a guest at the opening of an Israeli exhibition here, which was attended by Cecil Cross, American Consul-General in Sao Paulo and other dignitaries.
