The Knesset began consideration Last night of a bill providing for the return to the Soviet Union of all property in Israel formerly owned or claimed by the Russian Orthodox Church. Negotiations towards this end have been continuing for some time between the Soviet legation here and the Government of Israel. Approval of the bill is expected to greatly contribute to the cementing of good relations between the two countries.

(The New York Times today reported from Tel Aviv that Israel is seeking credits from the Soviet Union similar to the $100,000,000 United States loan. “The Israeli Legation in Moscow broached the proposal early this year, even before the United States loan was approved,” the report said. “However, Foreign Ministry circles said active negotiations had not yet begun.”)
