A complete revision of Israel’s laws and a remodelling of the Jewish state’s judicial legislation on the basis of the laws of the Torah were demanded by Chief Rabbi Dr. Isaac Halovi Herzog today in an address before the 18th world Mizrachi conference now taking place here.

Rabbi Herzog also demanded expanded juridical powers for the recently-established “Rabbinical High Court” as well as a change in “those Supreme Court Judges who do not have extensive Jewish juridical education and knowledge.”

Dr. Herzog called on the Government of Israel to grant the status of state courts to existing rabbinical tribunals and attacked the government for adhering to “Gentile jurisdiction which is utterly un-Jewish.” Premier David Ben Gurion was scheduled to address the more than 120 delegates from all parts of the world attending the parley this evening.
